An Additional Superintendent of Police from Andhra Pradesh, K D M V R Prasad (56), succumbed to injuries on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Hyderabad. He was injured in a road accident on July 26 near Choutuppal, when the car carrying him and two Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) collided with a divider after trying to avoid a vehicle ahead. The car then fell onto the opposite side of the road, where it was struck by an oncoming vehicle. Two DSPs lost their lives in the crash, and a head constable was also injured but later discharged from the hospital. The officers were en route from Vijayawada to Hyderabad on official duty when the accident occurred.
