The Andhra Pradesh capital debate has flared up again, with Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana accusing Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of shifting his stance on Amaravati purely for political gain.
The latest row follows YSRCP leader Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy’s remark that Amaravati was impractical and that a future Jagan-led government would function from Tadepalli, not Visakhapatnam. Reacting strongly, Narayana called this a blatant display of political opportunism.
“Jagan once raised his hand in the Assembly supporting Amaravati, saying 30,000 acres were needed. Then came the three-capital idea. Now, eyeing power again, he's back to supporting Amaravati. This is nothing but deceit,” said Narayana at a press meet in Vijayawada.
He reiterated Amaravati’s geographical centrality, connectivity, and access as key advantages, insisting the capital decision must be based on public sentiment, not shifting political interests.
On Sajjala’s comments, Narayana said they reflect the official stand of YSRCP, not personal views. “He’s a senior leader—just like my words reflect CM Naidu’s views, his words reflect YSRCP’s mindset.”
