An arm of Amazon India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Army Women Welfare Association (AWWA) to help women from army families start and expand sustainable businesses by enabling easier access to online markets.

The announcement was made ahead of International Women’s Day, observed on March 8. Under the partnership, women entrepreneurs from army families will receive structured onboarding support, capability-building programmes and access to customers across the country through the Amazon marketplace. The initiative aims to help them build and scale businesses while overcoming barriers related to market access and resources.

The collaboration has been launched under the Amazon Saheli programme, which focuses on empowering women.

Speaking at the event, Deepti Varma, Vice President of People Experience and Technology at Amazon Stores India and Emerging Markets, said many talented women often miss opportunities due to lack of access at the right time. She said the partnership aims to bridge that gap and enable women from army families to develop successful entrepreneurial ventures.
