Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar assured that the state government is providing relief to the families of the victims who died while on duty in the form of compassionate appointments. A total of 27 beneficiaries who were related to those who lost their lives in various accidents related to the power department were handed appointment letters through Minister Gottipati and CS Vijayanand on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Gottipati informed that more than 500 deserving people have been given jobs in the power department under compassionate appointments. The minister recalled that during the previous YSRCP government, only junior assistant level jobs were given to all eligible candidates including those who pursued higher education. He mentioned that after the formation of the present government, even junior engineers are being recruited through “compassionate appointments “wherever possible on the basis of educational qualifications.
Minister Gottipati said that CM Chandrababu Naidu had responded positively to the age relaxation for compassionate appointments. As a result, the overage and under-age members of the affected families have been given jobs with special permissions. He also informed that the Centre of Excellence in Visakhapatnam is providing necessary training to the in-service employees of the Electricity Department as well as the new appointees.
The Minister exhorted all the employees to work with double enthusiasm in their duties and bring a good name to the power companies. Chief Secretary Vijayanand made it clear that the government will take care of the safety and well-being of the power employees. He said that the employees should be vigilant while performing their duties.
