AP Govt to set up 750 Trupti Canteens

Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) S. Suresh Kumar said on Saturday that the government is taking steps to improve the economic condition of poor women in the state and encourage them towards achieving self-reliance. He inaugurated the “Trupti Canteen” at One Town Panja Centre. Speaking on the ocassion, MAUD Secretary Suresh Kumar said that the Andhra Pradesh government has started Trupti canteens to encourage DWACRA women to become entrepreneurs. 

Stating that around 750 canteens will be opened across the state under the aegis of MEPMA he mentioned that in Nellore, DWACRA women get an income of Rs 10,000-15,000 per canteen. He further mentioned that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has aimed to generate an annual income of Rs 10 lakhs for each DWACRA women and added that the government is planning to develop 30,000 MEPMA women as entrepreneurs.  He also said that the government will provide container for the maintenance of the canteen and quality control would be ensured under the supervision of the government.

MEPMA Project Director N. Tej Bharath said that the Trupti canteens have been started in line with the Chief Minister’s plan that there should be one business person and one employee in every family. Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Commissioner HM Dhyanachandra said that there are 11 Anna canteens running in the city and accordingly Trupti canteens have been started with DWACRA women. A loan cheque of Rs 10,88,550 provided by Indian Overseas Bank was handed over to DWACRA women by its Indian Overseas Bank Regional Manager Harjit Singh.
