Ayushman Bharat for free treatment to poor:Union Minister

  1. Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Sunday inaugurated the “Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana Telangana Marketing and Distribution Warehouse in Hyderabad.
  2. He said that Ayushman Bharat scheme was introduced to eliminate the financial burden on poor and middle class due to high cost of treatment these days.
  3. He also mentioned about Jan Aushadhi Kendras where medicines are provided at 50 to 90 percent less price than the prices in general medical shops.

Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy said on Sunday that due to high cost of treatment these days, many people are being forced to spend their lifetime earnings, the retired people their entire pensions and to avoid this PM Narendra Modi brought the Ayushman Bharat scheme. He inaugurated the “Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana Telangana Marketing and Distribution Warehouse” along with Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Verma in Hyderabad.

Speaking to media, he said that the government is providing free treatment to senior citizens above 70 years of age through the Ayushman Bharat scheme. He also mentioned that the central government has introduced Jan Aushadhi Kendras where medicines are being provided at 50 to 90 percent less price than the prices in general medical shops.

The minister noted that in addition to providing employment to the unemployed youth, they were also providing a huge subsidy to set up the Jan Aushadhi Kendras on a large scale. Recalling that in the past, KCR government did not implement the Ayushman Bharat scheme, appealed to CM Revanth Reddy to implement the scheme effectively in the state.
