Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Monday spoke to the priest of Chilkur Balaji Temple, C.S. Rangarajan, to enquire about his health following a recent attack by a fringe group. The opposition BRS and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) condemned the attack and demanded stringent action against the culprits.

Sanjay Kumar shared on 'X' that he checked on the priest's well-being and assured him of any support needed. BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao and other party leaders visited Rangarajan at his residence, criticizing the state's deteriorating law and order situation and demanding immediate arrests and security for the priest's family.

The VHP described the attack as an assault on temples, priests, social reforms, and the entire Hindu society. They called for a thorough investigation and the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to address the issue.

A group allegedly attacked Rangarajan at his residence on February 7, resulting in one arrest. Based on Rangarajan's complaint, a case was registered at Moinabad police station. Temples Protection Movement Convenor, and Rangarajan’s father, M.V. Soundararajan, alleged that a group claiming to be descendants of the Ikshvaku clan sought to establish Rama Rajya and assaulted his son for refusing to join their agenda.

Chilkur Balaji Temple, located on Hyderabad's outskirts, is an ancient shrine dedicated to Lord Balaji. Rangarajan is known for his reform measures, including services to SCs and other communities.
