CCEA approves 4-Laning of NH-167

Metro India News | Hyderabad

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the widening of National Highway-167 from Gudebellur to Mahabubnagar in Telangana to a four-lane standard. The 80.01-km project will be developed at a total capital cost of ₹3,175.08 crore under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) scheme.

At present, the Gudebellur–Mahabubnagar stretch faces significant travel delays due to poor road geometry and congestion in urbanised towns including Gudebellur, Magnoor, Makthal, Marikal, Devarkadra, Jaklair, Yeligandla and Banderpally. The proposed four-laning aims to ease congestion, improve safety and ensure smoother traffic flow.

The project will greatly benefit Narayanpet and Mahabubnagar districts by enhancing freight efficiency, reducing logistics costs and driving socio-economic growth. The upgraded corridor will integrate with NH-150 and NH-167N, ensuring seamless connectivity to major economic, social and logistics nodes across Telangana.

Additionally, the corridor will strengthen multi-modal connectivity by linking three PM GatiShakti Economic Nodes, nine Social Nodes and seven Logistic Nodes, enabling faster movement of goods and passengers.

Upon completion, the project is expected to generate approximately 14.4 lakh person-days of direct employment and 17.9 lakh person-days of indirect employment, while also stimulating further economic activity in the region.

The NH-167 upgradation is poised to play a key role in boosting regional development, strengthening connectivity between major religious and economic centres, and opening new avenues for trade and industrial growth.
