Mild tension prevailed for some time on Thursday when Congress activists attempted to lay siege to the Telangana BJP head office in Nampally, Hyderabad as part of a nationwide agitation.

The Congress organised the event against what they call harassment of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi by the central government over the National Herald case. Congress leaders, including TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, and party workers marched toward the BJP office.

Following the party's call, a large number of Congress workers from various districts gathered at the Gandhi Bhavan in Nampally. When the Congress leaders were prepared to march in a protest rally to the BJP state office and hold a demonstration, the police detained key leaders, stating that the rally did not have permission.

Similarly, when Congress women leaders set out to gherao the BJP office, they were arrested, including Telangana unit women president Sunitha Rao and other women leaders. Having been alerted in advance by the Congress's call for the protest, the police deployed a large contingent of officers at both Gandhi Bhavan and the BJP state office.

AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, speaking to the media, said that they would inform the public about the illegal cases being filed by the BJP.

She stated that the BJP is engaging in vindictive politics against the Gandhi family and also expressed her anger over the removal of the Gandhi name from the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) scheme.

"While justice may take time, ultimately, truth will prevail. The BJP knows nothing about the National Herald newspaper," she said. Meenakshi Natarajan said that their path is one of non-violence, and therefore, they will protest peacefully and inform the public about the facts.

TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud said, “The BJP is filing false cases against Rahul and Sonia Gandhi. The Delhi court has dismissed the charge sheet filed by the ED. National Herald is a newspaper that has existed since independence. The Gandhi family has sacrificed their assets for the country. The BJP is deliberately harassing such a family. We will take this issue to the people.
