BJP slams Congress resolution on VB-G-RAM G Act

04-01-2026 12:00:00 AM

Telangana BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao on Saturday strongly criticised the Congress-led Telangana government for passing a resolution against the "VB–G RAM G Act", accusing the party of spreading misinformation and politicising Mahatma Gandhi’s name.

Addressing media persons here, Rao said the Congress had a long history of employment schemes without invoking Gandhi’s name and accused it of renaming NREGA as "MGNREGA" in 2009 for electoral gains. He cited Rahul Gandhi’s 2021 remarks questioning the relevance of MNREGA to expose what he termed the Congress party’s 'double standards'.

Rao said the VB–G RAM G Act expands guaranteed employment from 100 to 125 days, strengthens unemployment allowance and delayed wage compensation, and ensures decentralised planning through Gram Panchayats and Gram Sabhas. At least 50 per cent of works will be executed locally, with a focus on water conservation, infrastructure creation, livelihood generation, disaster resilience, and special provisions for women and self-help groups, he noted.

Highlighting transparency measures, Rao said the Act mandates social audits, biometric attendance, GIS-based verification, and technology-driven monitoring to prevent fraud.
