Telangana Rashtra Samithi (BRS) supremo and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao will preside over a joint meeting of the party’s state executive and LP wing on December 19, 2025, at Telangana Bhavan from 2 pm. The meeting will focus on the ongoing injustice faced by Telangana in Krishna and Godavari water allocations and the Congress government’s neglect of water projects initiated by the BRS government over the past decade.
Despite Andhra Pradesh allegedly diverting Krishna and Godavari waters, the Congress government has failed to protect Telangana’s interests. While the previous BRS administration had allocated 91 TMC of water for the Palamuru-Rangareddy project, the current state government has agreed to only 45 TMC at the center. BRS leaders view this as a betrayal of farmers and irrigation beneficiaries in Palamuru, Rangareddy, and Nalgonda.
The party also criticized the BJP for remaining silent despite having eight MPs from Telangana, showing a lack of concern for state water and farmer interests. KCR has stressed that protecting irrigation resources and opposing Andhra Pradesh’s water diversion may require direct public movements.
In addition to water issues, the December 19 meeting will address party organizational matters and strategize public movements to safeguard Telangana’s irrigation projects and farmers. The BRS has reaffirmed that it will never compromise on the state’s water rights and the welfare of its agrarian community.
