Renowned Surgical Gastroenterologist and Robotic Surgeon Dr. B. B. Das at CARE Hospitals, Visakhapatnam achieved a landmark of 1,000 Robotic Gastrointestinal (GI) Surgeries within just 18 months, highlighting eastern India’s  rapid adoption of cutting-edge medical technology and also underscores CARE Hospitals’ commitment to delivering high-precision GI treatments with improved safety, accuracy, and faster recovery for patients.

With decades of clinical experience, Dr. Das has pioneered minimally invasive and robotic surgical advancements enabling safer and more precise GI procedures for patients across Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and neighboring regions. Speaking on the achievement, Dr. B. B. Das said that reaching 1,000 robotic GI surgeries within 18 months demonstrated how cutting-edge technology is reshaping gastrointestinal care in eastern India. He also highlighted transformative patient outcomes made possible through robotic precision.

He gave instances of a 50-year-old woman undergoing a combined robotic gallbladder removal and hysterectomy and returned home pain-free within 48 hours, a 63-year-old patient with a recurrent post-surgery hernia receiving a scarless robotic repair and a 15-year-old boy with life-threatening splenic bleeding being treated through a robotic splenectomy.

Together, these cases demonstrate how robotic surgery is redefining outcomes, even in the most challenging scenarios.

G Sukesh Reddy, Chief Operating Officer, CARE Hospitals, Visakhapatnam, said that achieving 1,000 robotic GI surgeries in such a short span underscores the hospital’s commitment to global-standard healthcare.
