In a major push for women’s empowerment, the Government of Telangana’s Commissionerate of Collegiate Education (CCE) has partnered with non-profit organisation Launch Girls to implement the Girl Boss Future Ready programme in 148 government degree colleges across the state. The initiative aims to equip thousands of adolescent girls and young women with entrepreneurial education, work-readiness training, and career guidance, enabling a smooth transition from classrooms to careers.

Calling it a transformative step, CCE Commissioner A. Sridevasena said, “The collaboration with Launch Girls is a step toward building an inclusive, skill-based, and future-ready higher education ecosystem. We aim to empower underserved young women by equipping them with practical skills and an entrepreneurial mindset — key to enhancing their potential and contributing to the state’s economic growth.”

The programme builds on Launch Girls’ experience of working with more than 15,000 young women across India, driving measurable improvements in education continuation, self-confidence, and economic participation. It is tailored for first-generation learners and students from underserved communities, drawing on research and successful models implemented across South Asia and Africa.

“This partnership is the culmination of years of work with young women across Telangana — listening to their dreams, fears, and hunger for opportunity,” said Neha Sahu, Co-founder of Launch Girls. “Girl Boss Future Ready is not just a programme; it’s a launchpad for thousands to step into the world with confidence, skills, and ambition.”

Early pilots of the programme in Telangana from 2021 to 2024 showed striking results: over 90% of participants reported increased self-confidence, improved communication skills, and clarity about their career goals. With its state-wide rollout, the initiative hopes to spark a generation of women leaders ready to thrive in the workforce and drive change in their communities.
