The Miyapur Police arrested two chain snatching offenders involved in targeting women in the area and recovered stolen property from their possession. The accused were identified as Abhay Kumar Dhubey (30), a native of Sant Ravidas Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, and Akash Kumar Rajak (18), a native of Giridih, Jharkhand. Both were residing on Pipeline Road, Miyapur.
According to police, the case came to light on February 26 after a 36-year-old woman from Ramayampet village and mandal in Medak district lodged a complaint. She stated that on February 25, between 2.35 pm and 2.45 pm, two unidentified persons on a motorcycle snatched her 70-gram mangalsutra while she was walking towards a bus stop in Miyapur after visiting her daughter at Vashista Inter Junior College.
During the incident, around 10 grams of the gold chain was forcibly pulled away, while the remaining portion got entangled in her saree and was retained by her.
Police teams worked on technical evidence and traced the motorcycle number plate used in the offence. Based on the leads, they identified and apprehended the accused at their residence and recovered the stolen gold item weighing 10 grams.
Investigations revealed that the duo, who worked as food delivery boys, targeted women walking alone to earn easy money. The police advised women to remain alert, keep gold chains inside clothing, and exercise caution in crowded places and while travelling alone.
