Pulses markets witnessed mixed trends on Thursday, with tur prices declining in some key markets due to weak demand and steady arrivals, while chana and masur prices remained largely stable. Traders expect chana prices to gain strength in the coming weeks as monsoon-related demand improves, while masur is likely to remain range-bound.

In Indore, Madhya Pradesh, chana traded steady at ₹6,075-6,100 per 100 kg.  Traders said prices have stabilised after recent weakness caused by higher arrivals and sluggish demand. Farmers continue to release stocks to meet expenses related to kharif sowing activities. Demand for chana has remained muted due to prevailing hot weather conditions.

However, market participants expect consumption of chana dal and besan to rise with the onset of the monsoon, supporting prices. Reduced arrivals during the sowing season could further tighten supplies. Traders expect prices to rise by ₹100-200 per 100 kg in the near term.

In Delhi, chana prices were unchanged at ₹6,025 per 100 kg. Tur prices in Solapur, Maharashtra, remained steady at ₹7,400-7,850 per 100 kg. Arrivals remained healthy, with around 17-18 truckloads reaching the market.

Weak demand continued to cap gains, although traders believe prices may have found a near-term floor after recent declines. In Katni, Madhya Pradesh, tur prices fell by ₹50 to ₹8,050-8,150 per 100 kg. Market participants are closely monitoring the progress of kharif sowing and the monsoon. Any delay in sowing activity could provide support to prices in the coming weeks. Masur prices in Indore were steady at ₹5,975-6,000 per 100 kg.
