Chennai booths see star rush

Several Tamil film personalities stepped out to vote as polling for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections began on Thursday. Actress Trisha Krishnan cast her vote in Chennai, while actors Dhanush, Ajith Kumar and Vijay were also seen at polling booths.

Music composer Ilaiyaraaja, actors Sathyaraj and Rajinikanth joined the democratic exercise as voters across the state queued up. Vijay urged citizens to participate responsibly, while many stars encouraged youth to vote. Polling is being held across all 234 Assembly constituencies in a single phase. Counting of votes for the high-stakes election will take place on May 4.
