Passengers will have to wait for another three months to travel in main/regular trains from the newly opened Cherlapalli Satellite Terminal under the South Central Railway. This is because due to technical reasons, only special trains will be run from Cherlapalli station for the time being, a senior railway official said.
As passengers have already made reservations (90 days in advance) in various trains from/to Secunderabad, Kacheguda and Nampally stations, the respective trains will have to continue to run from/to the same terminals for a few more years. Due to this, it will take time for main/regular trains to travel from Cherlapalli.
On the other hand, the railway department is in talks with the state government on the expansion of approach roads to Cherlapalli terminal. Meanwhile, the special train (07077) that started from Cherlapalli Terminal at 3 pm on Monday reached Tirupati at 4 am on Tuesday.
The train (07078), which left Tirupati at 9 pm on Tuesday night, will reach Cherlapalli at 8 am on Wednesday. With this, it has entered the record books as the first train to start from Cherlapalli Terminal.
South Central Railway on Tuesday announced that some trains have been cancelled completely and some partially till the end of January due to maintenance work. Kacheguda-Nizamabad-Kacheguda (77601-77602) trains have been cancelled from January 8 to 31. Some other train services have been partially cancelled. Some minor changes have been made in the schedule.
In view of the Sankranti rush, the South Central Railway announced four special trains on Tuesday. It was revealed that trains will run Kakinada Town-Vikarabad (07205) on January 9, Vikarabad-Srikakulam Road (07207) on January 10, Srikakulam Road-Cherlapalli (07208) on January 11, and Cherlapalli-Kakinada Town (07206) on January 12.
