Chandanagar police have busted a five member child trafficking gang operating across Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Sangareddy districts. Acting on a missing complaint of a four-year-old boy, Akhil, who disappeared in Lingampally on August 26, police arrested key accused Chilukuri Raju.
Raju, a resident of Patancheruvu, confessed to abducting and selling children under five to childless couples for the past four years. He targeted vulnerable children near railway stations and isolated areas. His aides, Mohammed Asif and Rizwana, helped arrange illegal adoptions in exchange for large sums of money.
Investigations revealed Raju’s first kidnapping occurred at Kachiguda railway station, where he sold a baby girl for Rs 42,000. Shockingly, police also found that a parent had sold their own newborns with the gang’s assistance.
Six children, including Akhil, were rescued and handed over to District Child Protection Officers. Police recovered Rs 5 lakh in cash from the gang. Further investigation is ongoing.
