Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has slammed the US for imposing tariifs on other countries. "Using tariffs as a weapon to suppress other countries violates the UN Charter, undermines WTO rules, and is both unpopular and unsustainable," Wang Yi said during a phone call with Celso Amorim, chief advisor to Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

This was revealed by Chinese envoy to India, Xu Feihong, in a post on his official X account. "Give the bully an inch, he will take a mile," Xu said in the post.

The Chinese reaction came after Lula turned down US President Trump's offer to call him anytime to discuss tariffs. Trump"does not want to talk," Lula said, adding: "I will call Xi Jinping, I will call PM Modi. I won't call Putin, because he can't travel now. But I will call many presidents."
