Musi Rejuvenation & Gandhi Sarovar Project
In his meeting with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at South Block, the Chief Minister briefed him about the State Government’s ambitious Musi River Rejuvenation Project aimed at ensuring sustainable urban development, ecological restoration, and uninterrupted flow of clean water in the river. He requested the Union Government to transfer 100 acres of Defence land required for the project.
The Chief Minister also invited the Defence Minister to attend the foundation stone laying ceremony and Bhoomi Puja of the proposed Gandhi Sarovar Project, scheduled for the end of February. The project will be developed at the confluence of the Isa and Musi rivers near Bapu Ghat, where the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi were immersed in 1948.
Revanth Reddy informed the Union Minister that the Gandhi Sarovar Project would reflect Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals of peace, unity, sustainable development, and simple living. It will be developed as a world-class educational, cultural, spiritual, and environmental center. The project will include a peace monument, National Museum, Knowledge Centre, and a Handloom Promotion Centre.
Members of Parliament Dr. Mallu Ravi, Suresh Shetkar, Dr. Kadiyam Kavya, Gaddam Vamsi Krishna, M. Anil Kumar Yadav, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary K.S. Srinivasa Raju, and Central Schemes Coordinator Dr. Gaurav Uppal were present during the meeting.
Krishna–Vikarabad Rail Line & High-Speed Corridors
During his meeting with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at Parliament, the Chief Minister urged the Union Government to fully fund the Krishna–Vikarabad railway line project. He reminded the Minister that the Telangana Government had already agreed to bear the entire land acquisition cost for the project.
The Chief Minister highlighted the industrial potential of the region, particularly limestone deposits identified in Tekulakode, which could boost cement and textile industries. He informed the Minister that Kodangal, Tekulakode, and Doulthabad are being developed as industrial zones, and the rail connectivity would significantly enhance economic growth in the region.
Revanth Reddy also proposed that Hyderabad serve as a tri-junction hub for three High-Speed Rail Corridors: Hyderabad–Chennai (778 km), Hyderabad–Bengaluru (586 km), and Hyderabad–Pune (556 km). He offered 500 acres of land near Shamshabad International Airport for the development of these high-speed corridors and suggested that all three corridors originate from Shamshabad.
He further requested that the Hyderabad–Chennai corridor pass through Amaravati and be connected to Bandar Port to facilitate faster cargo movement from dry ports to the seaport. The Railway Minister responded positively and assured that work would be initiated.
Mamnoor & Adilabad Airport Development
In a separate meeting with Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu, the Chief Minister requested that the proposed Mamnoor Airport near Warangal be developed to international standards. He informed the Minister that land acquisition for the airport has been completed and urged immediate commencement of construction.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the airport should include cargo facilities and Maintenance, Overhaul and Repair (MOR) services. He noted that Warangal is emerging as a major industrial hub, particularly in textiles, and also hosts the Sammakka-Saralamma Medaram Jatara, one of Asia’s largest tribal festivals.
Revanth Reddy also sought immediate approval for the Adilabad airport project, stating that the State Government is ready to provide an additional 249.82 acres required for its establishment.
Union Minister Ram Mohan Naidu assured that officials from the Airports Authority of India would be deputed to initiate necessary steps for the Mamnoor Airport project.
