Metro India News | Hyderabad :

Doctors at Medicover Hospitals, Secunderabad successfully performed a complex kidney transplant on a 49-year-old patient from Sudan after he was diagnosed with chronic kidney failure of unknown origin. As part of the transplant evaluation, his son and daughter were assessed as potential kidney donors. Since the exact cause of the patient's kidney failure could not be identified, the medical team conducted an extensive evaluation to rule out the possibility of recurrence of the disease after transplantation.

A multidisciplinary team led by Senior Nephrologists Dr. Prabhu Charan and Dr. Rajeev, Senior Urologist Dr. Raghuveer, and Head of Transplant Anaesthesia Dr. Srinivas successfully performed the kidney transplant. The surgery was challenging because of the patient's abnormal vascular anatomy.  Following the transplant, both the donor and recipient recovered  and were discharged from the hospital within a week. The patient has now regained normal kidney function, is in good health and has returned to his home country.
