RBVRR Women’s College, in collaboration with the Telangana Medicinal Plants Board and the Society for Conservation and Resource Development of Medicinal Plants, New Delhi, hosted the inaugural session of the international conference on “Innovations in Medicinal Plants and Natural Products Research” at The Plaza, Tourism Plaza, Greenlands. The 3 day conference was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Prof. K. Pratap Reddy, Vice Chancellor of Kakatiya University, Warangal on Thursday, 12th of February.
Principal of the College, Prof. J Achyutha Devi and conference-convener, Dr S Ravi Kiran spoke on the importance of highlighting Hyderabad as a hub of emerging plant based medical treatments. Objectives of the conference included creating a vibrant environment to exchange ideas on emerging medicinal plant research trends, raising awareness about medicinal plants, motivating farmers toward commercial cultivation,
providing a platform for student research presentations and facilitating interactions between students, scientists and industrialists to explore career paths in phytochemical industries. Eminent researchers and academics such as Dr. Srinivasa Rao Mentreddy, Prof. Wahyu Widowati, Dr Chee Yan Choot, Prof. Deepthi Inoka Uluwadyge delivered talks, setting the stage for a productive exchange of ideas on the latest innovations in medicinal plants and natural products research.
