09-02-2026 12:00:00 AM

CPM State Secretary John Wesley today said that the fire that broke out on Saturday in the office of the State Forensic Lab in Hyderabad was raising many suspicions. He said that the CPI(M) Telangana State Committee was  demanding  a comprehensive inquiry into this incident.

In a statement, he said that It was reported that digital evidence related to sensational cases in the state such as the phone tapping case, the Nayeem case, land scams, the cash-for-votes case and other political corruption cases was stored in this section.  “The fact that the fire occurred when the investigation of these cases is at a crucial stage is giving rise to many doubts. Although officials claim that no crucial files or digital data were damaged in the fire, the truth needs to be revealed. What are the reasons behind the repeated incidents of the government records being destroyed by fire, first in the Secretariat and now in the Forensic Lab? In this context, there is a need to provide stringent security for records in the government offices.

The government should immediately announce complete details of which case files were destroyed in the fire,” he said . He demanded that Action should be taken against the officials responsible for the security lapse.  He reminded that the fire accidents had been occurring frequently in the state especially in and around Hyderabad and demanded that a 'safety audit' be conducted immediately in the government offices, especially in record rooms, and added that necessary measures be taken to prevent the fire accidents.
