Hyderabad: In a major breakthrough in the ongoing Andhra Pradesh liquor scam, startling revelations have come to light as the Special Investigation Team (SIT) seized ₹11 crore in unaccounted cash during recent searches.
The massive stash, hidden inside 12 cardboard boxes disguised as office files, was recovered from the “Sulochana Farm Guest House” in Kacharam, Shamshabad mandal, Telangana. The crucial lead emerged after the confession of Varun Purushottam, who is listed as accused No 40 in the case.
According to SIT officials, Varun, along with one Vinay, concealed the cash in June 2024 under the instructions of accused No. 1 Kasireddy Rajasekhar Reddy, the former I.T. Advisor to the Andhra Pradesh government, and another accused, Chanakya. So far, the SIT has unearthed financial irregularities worth over Rs 3,500 crore in the case.
