In a massive crackdown, the Maharashtra Crime Branch has busted a drug manufacturing unit in Medchal, Hyderabad, seizing narcotics worth nearly Rs 12,000 crore. The operation followed the arrest of a foreign national in Maharashtra with drugs worth Rs 25 lakh, whose interrogation led authorities to the Medchal facility.
The raid uncovered a highly sophisticated factory producing synthetic drugs such as Ecstasy, MD (Methaqualone), and Molly. Around 32,000 liters of raw chemicals used to manufacture Methylene Dioxy and Methamphetamine were confiscated.
Thirteen individuals have been arrested in connection with the operation. Investigators believe the unit supplied drugs both across India and internationally, making Hyderabad a significant node in the global drug trade. This is one of the largest drug seizures in recent years and highlights the deep-rooted presence of organized narcotic syndicates in Telangana.
