DCA raids medical shops, Rs 2.5L worth drug seized

Telangana Drug Control Administration (TG DCA) on Monday raided medical shops in Warangal and Kumarambheem Asifabad and seized veterinary drugs worth Rs 2.5 lakh.  

As per the Drugs rules, if drugs are sold or stocked for sale at more than one place, a separate licence shall be obtained in respect of each such place. However, Saikiran Poultry and Vet Medicals was operating a medical shop at the said premises illegally, without a drug licence.

During the raid, DCA officers detected unauthorized stocking of a large quantity of veterinary medicines for sale. A total of 26 varieties of veterinary medicines were found stocked at the premises, and the stock, worth Rs 2.5 lakh, was seized during the raid.

J Kiran Kumar, Drugs Inspector, Warangal, carried out the raid under the supervision of Dr G Rajyalakshmi, Assistant Director, Warangal. DCA officers lifted the samples for analysis. Wholesalers, dealers, who supply medicines to such unlicensed shops, which are stocking and selling drugs without a drug license, are also punishable under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, and stringent action shall be taken against such persons.
