Hyderabad: The Rajendranagar Special Operations Team (SOT), along with local police, arrested a man for allegedly selling deer meat illegally in Attapur on Tuesday. The suspect, identified as Mohd Irfanuddin of Suleman Nagar, was caught with around 15 kg of venison and Rs 3,000 in cash. Police said the meat was brought from Pebbair in Wanaparthy district and sold locally at about Rs 800 per kg.
Authorities are investigating if the case is part of organised poaching or a wider wildlife trafficking network. The incident raises concerns over the illegal trade of protected species in the region. Irfanuddin, along with the seized meat and cash, was handed over to Attapur police for further legal action. A case under wildlife protection laws has been registered, and investigators are probing potential links to broader criminal operations.
