BJP MP Eatala Rajender has strongly criticized the Congress party, accusing it of undermining democratic institutions for political gain. Addressing reporters on Saturday, he said it was dangerous for Congress to risk the country’s security in the pursuit of votes and power.
Rajender reminded that the Congress had secured victory in Telangana during the recent assembly polls conducted through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). “If you win, then the machines worked, and the Election Commission functioned properly. But if you lose, spreading misinformation that EVMs failed and votes were stolen is misleading,” he remarked.
Explaining further, he pointed out that voter rolls frequently change due to migration. “People in Hyderabad move between rented houses or shift from villages to cities. Updating and removing duplicate votes is a continuous responsibility of the Election Commission,” he said.
Commenting on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive in Bihar, the BJP leader cautioned against granting citizenship to illegal infiltrators.
“The Election Commission is an independent institution. The Supreme Court has also issued directions on this. Linking its work to party politics is unfair,” Rajender added. He urged Congress leaders to avoid what he termed as “cheap accusations” against constitutional bodies.
