Emphasizing the need for all-round development among students, Minister for Roads & Buildings and Cinematography Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said education and sports must go hand in hand to build both mental and physical strength. The Minister inaugurated a two-day inter-school sports meet at Vipasya School, Charlapally in Nalgonda district on Thursday. Addressing students and school managements, he observed that while academic excellence remains important, exclusive focus on grades and GPAs should not come at the cost of sports. 

Calling upon private educational institutions to support students from economically weaker sections, the Minister stressed the importance of sportsmanship, advising students to accept both victory and defeat with grace and determination. Highlighting the State government’s initiatives in education, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said Young India Integrated Residential Schools are being constructed at a cost of Rs 200 crore each to provide quality education to poor students. 

He informed that construction of the Young India Residential School near SLBC in Nalgonda district headquarters is in progress. The campuses will include modern classrooms, dormitories, dining halls, kitchens and extensive sports facilities such as cricket and football grounds, offering infrastructure superior to many private institutions. On urban development, the Minister said Nalgonda, which is set to become a Municipal Corporation, will be developed into a Smart City. 

An Outer Ring Road is being taken up at a cost of Rs 200 crore through the R&B department, while underground drainage works worth Rs 700 crore are underway. The Minister reiterated the government’s resolve to develop Nalgonda on the lines of Hyderabad. He also said the Bottuguda Primary School in Nalgonda town has been upgraded to corporate standards with Rs 12 crore support from Prateek Foundation and will be inaugurated shortly.
