The Hyderabad Narcotics Police Station (HNPS) of the Telangana EAGLE Force, in coordination with the Borabanda Police of Hyderabad Commissionerate, apprehended eight drug consumers at Indiranagar Phase-II, Borabanda, Hyderabad. Six mobile phones were seized from the accused.
Acting on credible information about illegal drug consumption within Borabanda police limits, HNPS teams conducted a swift operation along with local police. During the raid, eight persons were found consuming ganja on the terrace of a house in Indiranagar.
During interrogation, the accused admitted to being addicted to ganja due to bad company and said they had been gathering at the location for the past few months to consume the substance, which was procured from an unknown supplier. On the day of the operation, one of the accused, identified as Vickey, allegedly brought the ganja, which was shared among the group.
On-spot drug-detection tests confirmed the presence of THC, a banned psychotropic substance under the NDPS Act, 1985. The accused and seized articles were handed over to Borabanda Police for further action. They were also counselled and referred to the Drug Treatment Clinic at the Institute of Mental Health, Erragadda, for de-addiction and rehabilitation. Efforts are on to trace and apprehend the suppliers.
