Ex-IAS breathes his last

Retired IAS officer belonging to Andhra Pradesh cadre BV Rama Rao passed away due to ill health  in Bengaluru on Thursday at the age of 86. A 1962 batch officer, he served in many significant posts in combined Andhra Pradesh as well as in central services. In his long and illustrious career, BV Rama Rao served as Education Secretary, Managing Director of AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation and Principal Secretary of Municipal Administration and Urban Development departments. Besides, he also acted as “Acting Chief Secretary” for a brief period. He was the Special Chief Secretary in the Department of Health and Family Welfare at the time of his retirement.

After retirement, BV Rama Rao served as the Dean in ICFAI School of Public Policy. He earned a good name as a sincere and committed bureaucrat as well as an educationist. He is survived by a wife and three sons. Many officials, educationists as well as eminent people offered condolences on the occasion of BV Rama Rao’s death.
