Former Narsampet MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy passes away

Senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and former Narsampet MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy passed away in the early hours of Friday, 31, while undergoing treatment at Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad. He was 51. Telangana CM Revanth Reddy said that the funeral would be conducted with full state police honour. 

Born on 6 August 1974 to Raji Reddy and Amrutamma in Nallabelli village of Nallabelli Mandal, Warangal Rural district, Reddy came from an agricultural family. He completed his Intermediate education at Mahbubia Panjathan College, Warangal, in 1991. He is survived by his wife Swapna, son Nidharshan Reddy and daughter Dharmishtha Reddy.

On July 26, Sudarshan Reddy fell critically ill at his residence in Hanamkonda. After emergency treatment at Rohini Hospital, he was shifted to Hyderabad. He suffered a cardiac arrest due to a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lungs). Although he was revived after nearly 45 minutes of CPR, his condition remained critical owing to lack of neurological response. Despite six days of intensive efforts by the medical team, he could not be saved.

Reddy began his political career through the Youth Congress and joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS, later BRS) at its inception in 2001. He served as ZPTC member from Nallabelli Mandal and Zilla Parishad Floor Leader. He later held the positions of undivided Warangal district party president and state Politburo member.

A close associate of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, he played an active role in the Telangana movement through public meetings and rallies in Warangal. He contested the 2014 Assembly elections from Narsampet unsuccessfully but won the seat in 2018. He served as Chairman of the Telangana State Civil Supplies Corporation (2016-18) and as a member of the Legislative Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee during his MLA stint from 2018-23.

BRS leaders, including K. Chandrashekhar Rao, KTR and T Harish Rao, and party workers have paid rich tributes to Reddy, acknowledging his unwavering dedication and contributions to the Telangana movement and public service. Condolences have also been expressed by leaders across the political spectrum including CM Revanth Reddy, several Congress Ministers, BJP MP Eatala Rajender among others. Police were deployed in the Narsampet constituency to maintain law and order.
