A free mega surgical correction and health camp dedicated to providing medical support for Divyangjan was inaugurated at Raj Bhavan community hall on Monday by Governor Jishnu Dev Varma.
The initiative has been jointly organised by the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Hyderabad branch, in association with the Disable Foundation Trust, Dr. Naari Charitable Trust, Agarwal Seva Dal, Ravi Helios Hospital, Pitti Trust, and several other supporting organisations.
The camp aims to provide free expert surgical procedures, diagnostic tests, ophthalmic examinations, and distribution of spectacles to persons with disabilities, ensuring access to quality healthcare for the most marginalised.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Jishnu Dev Varma hailed the health camp as not just a medical service but as a "powerful expression of compassion, collaboration, and social responsibility." He underscored the importance of collective efforts by hospitals, NGOs, and volunteers in bridging healthcare gaps faced by the differently-abled community.
He congratulated inspiring achievers like Paralympic medalist Jeevanji Deepthi and the Aditya Mehta Foundation, who were among the awardees recognised for their outstanding contributions in motivating and empowering differently-abled persons.
The camp was attended by a wide range of dignitaries and representatives of organisations working for social welfare. Among them were MLA Kale Yadaiah, Hyderabad district collector Hari Chandana and other senior officials were present.
