Govt hospitals urged to improve hygeine

Special Chief Secretary to the State Government M.T. Krishna Babu, on Wednesday warned that the functioning of government hospitals in the State is being constantly reviewed at the level of the Chief Minister and that strict action will be taken against the superintendents and administrators of the hospitals if there is no improvement in the near future on the issues which are being viewed negatively among the people .

He reviewed the quality of services of government hospitals through video conferencing with superintendents and administrators of 256 government hospitals from the office of the medical and health department at Amaravati Secretariat.

Krishna Babu explained the public opinion collected through IVRS in two phases regarding the services of Government Hospitals. He said that the positivity among the people has improved in respect of 5 things. He said that there has been positivity among the people regarding the availability of doctors and staff, the conduct of doctors, the conduct of staff, the supply of medicines and the issues of corruption.

Expressing happiness over this positive decision Krishna Babu however expressed concern over the public opinion expressed on cleanliness in government hospitals. He said that the number of people who said poor hygiene has increased.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday reviewed the results of the IVRS survey with top officials of the medical and health department, responsible to improve the quality and cleanliness of the services of government hospitals. Krishna Babu said that during his visits, the Chief Minister will personally visit government hospitals and take stock of the facts and seek the views of the patients. He said that this would be part of continuous feeback being taken on medical services in the state.

During the review meeting, Krishna Babu urged to increase the cleanliness in hospitals in a big way during the survey. He made it clear that strict action will be taken against the concerned Superintendents and Administrators if results are not achieved in the near future in the matter of cleanliness which affects public opinion towards government hospitals.

Krishna Babu suggested that superintendents should display effective leadership towards achieving positive results. He called for creating a clean environment with high standards in government hospitals with the participation of other hospital staff.
