‘Govt not against Formula-E race, only faulted fund misuse’

Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister, D. Sridhar Babu has clarified that the Congress government did not oppose the Formula-E race but raised concerns over procedural lapses and financial mismanagement in its execution. He stressed on the state government’s commitment to hosting prestigious international events while ensuring transparency in their execution.

Emphasizing the government’s vision for Telangana as a global destination, Minister Sridhar Babu, in an informal chat with media in his chamber in Assembly, announced that Hyderabad will host the Miss World Beauty Pageant in the month May 2024, 

a prestigious event that strengthens the state’s position on the international stage.A delegation from the competition organizers will visit Hyderabad on April 19 to inspect venues and engage in discussions with government officials.

Telangana secured the opportunity to host this grand event against competition from 12 other states, marking only the second time India has hosted Miss World in its 71-year history, with the previous edition held in Mumbai.

The Congress-led Telangana government remains committed to fostering international collaborations and promoting the Telangana Rising brand through ethical and well-executed global events, Sridhar Babu said.
