Govt to issue accreditation card orders in 10 days: Ponguleti

Minister for Revenue, Housing, Information and Public Relations Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy reiterated that the state government is committed to resolving the long-standing issues of accreditation cards and housing plots for journalists.

He was scheduled to attend as the chief guest at the Telangana Working Journalists Federation (TWJF) district general body meeting at the SR Convention Hall in Khammam district headquarters on Saturday. However, due to unavoidable circumstances requiring him to travel to Hyderabad urgently, the Minister addressed the journalists over the phone. On the occasion, he explained the key decisions the government would be taking for the welfare of journalists.

Speaking on the occasion, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the process for issuing accreditation cards, which journalists across the state have been waiting for eagerly, is now in its final stage.

He said the government order (GO) related to this will be released within the next ten days. The Minister assured that measures will be taken to ensure that every eligible person receives the cards and that no one needs to be discouraged.

The Minister further stated that they have already had in-depth discussions with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy regarding the issue of housing plots for journalists.

He mentioned that there was some delay in the past due to Supreme Court orders and legal complications, but they have overcome all those obstacles and will deliver good news to journalists regarding housing plots next year. Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy emphasised that protecting the self-respect of journalists is the responsibility of the State government.

The Minister also congratulated the leaders and members of the TWJF that is fighting for the rights of journalists. State and district-level representatives of the TWJF and a large number of journalists participated in the programme.
