Chennai Institute of Technology (CIT), Chennai, in association with Bisleri International Pvt. Ltd., has created a Guinness World Record for the Largest Human Recycling Logo Formation, highlighting the importance of environmental awareness and responsible waste management. The record-setting initiative saw the participation of over 5,037 students, comfortably surpassing the earlier Guinness World Record of 3,373 participants set by the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) in Chennai in January 2019.
The initiative aimed to send out a strong visual message on collective responsibility towards recycling and sustainability. By bringing together thousands of students, the organisers sought to promote awareness on circular economy practices, responsible plastic usage, and the need for community participation in waste management efforts.
Bisleri International said the achievement reflects its sustained commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. The company noted that engaging youth in large-scale environmental initiatives is crucial to driving long-term behavioural change and building a culture of responsible consumption and recycling across communities.
Officials from Chennai Institute of Technology termed the record a proud moment for the institution and the city. They said the event aligned closely with the institute’s focus on sustainability, student engagement, and social responsibility, while also offering students an opportunity to participate in a globally recognised environmental movement.
