HCA Rejects Misleading Claims, Reaffirms Authority and Legal Position

The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) has strongly rejected the misleading, baseless, and legally untenable statements made by certain unrecognized entities that have no locus standi, describing them as a deliberate attempt to create confusion around HCA’s legitimate activities in the State, including the TG20 League.

The HCA reiterated that it is the sole body recognized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to administer cricket in Telangana. As a founder member of the BCCI since 1934, the Association emphasized that the “one state–one member” principle, upheld by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, does not permit any other association or entity to claim authority or interfere in its affairs.

The Association stated that it is fully competent to handle all legal and administrative matters relating to cricket in the State, and will not be intimidated by veiled threats or motivated allegations. It further warned that any attempt to mislead players, stakeholders, or the public will invite firm and appropriate legal action.

Clarifying the legal position, the Association stated that references to court proceedings are misleading and incorrect. HCA asserted that neither the Bombay High Court nor any other court has imposed any restriction on its functioning or granted any relief to such entities.

The Association further stated that the TG20 League is a structured, transparent, and BCCI-aligned initiative aimed at strengthening grassroots cricket and creating opportunities for players across Telangana.Reaffirming its commitment to transparent governance, lawful functioning, and the development of cricket across the State, the Hyderabad Cricket Association stated that it will continue to act strictly within the BCCI framework and applicable law, while taking all necessary steps to safeguard the integrity of the game and prevent any attempts to destabilize cricket administration in Telangana.
