HIPLEX 2026 to showcase plastic recycling, innovation

The roadshow for HIPLEX 2026, India's third-largest plastics exhibition, was held at ITC Kakatiya in Hyderabad on Saturday, ahead of the international expo scheduled from August 7 to 10 at the HITEX Exhibition Centre. The event was inaugurated by Dhannarapu Srinivas Gupta, Superintendent of Police, Vigilance & Enforcement. Organised by the Telangana and Andhra Plastics Manufacturers Association (TAAPMA), HIPLEX 2026 is being held with the support of the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Government of India, the Telangana government, CIPET and other industry partners.

The exhibition is expected to feature over 500 exhibitors and attract more than 50,000 business visitors, including manufacturers, technology providers, buyers, investors, policymakers and entrepreneurs from India and abroad. With the theme "The Rise of Atmanirbhar & Viksit Bharat in Amrit Kaal: Invest to Transform," HIPLEX 2026 will showcase the latest advancements in plastics processing machinery, raw materials, automation, recycling technologies, sustainability initiatives and finished products across the plastics value chain.

Addressing the gathering, Srinivas Gupta said plastics are indispensable to modern life and industries, and the focus should be on responsible usage, scientific waste management and recycling rather than eliminating plastics. He noted that the plastics sector supports nearly 40,000 manufacturing units and provides employment to around 18 lakh people across the country. HIPLEX 2026 Convener Meela Jayadev said this year's exhibition has expanded to 26,000 square metres, making it the biggest edition so far. He said the event will promote innovation, investment, technology partnerships and business opportunities.

One of the key attractions will be the Recycling Pavilion, where visitors can witness how 25 discarded plastic bottles can be transformed into a T-shirt. The pavilion will also display innovative products made from recycled plastics, including roads, railway sleepers, bricks, benches, bus shelters and even houses, highlighting the growing role of recycling in sustainable development.
