Hyd Police book 305 drunk drivers in two-day drive

Hyderabad Traffic Police conducted a two-day special enforcement drive against drunken driving on January 16 and 17, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety in the city. The focused operation resulted in the booking of 305 drivers who were found driving vehicles under the influence of alcohol.

Among those caught, a large majority were two-wheeler riders, accounting for 242 cases. This was followed by 26 cases involving three-wheelers and 35 cases related to four-wheelers and other categories of vehicles, highlighting that drunk driving remains a concern across all modes of transport. The analysis of blood alcohol concentration (BAC) levels revealed varying degrees of intoxication. As many as 65 drivers recorded BAC levels between 30 and 50, while 134 cases fell in the 51 to 100 range. Higher levels were also detected, with 39 cases between 101 and 150, 35 between 151 and 200, 11 between 201 and 250, eight between 251 and 300, and 13 cases exceeding 300.

Hyderabad Traffic Police reiterated that there will be zero tolerance towards drunken driving and confirmed that such special drives will continue.
