The Telangana government, through the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), has initiated the preparation of the Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) 2050 for the Hyderabad Metropolitan Area as part of the proposed Master Plan 2050. The plan aims to establish a sustainable and long-term urban mobility strategy aligned with the National Urban Transport Policy 2006/2014, while identifying effective investment programmes in coordination with agencies such as HMDA, GHMC, HMRL, and other key departments. The consultancy firm M/s LEA Associates South Asia Pvt. Ltd. has been appointed to prepare the CMP.
As part of the process, a stakeholder consultation meeting on the draft CMP 2050 report was held on Tuesday at the HMRL office in Rasoolpura, chaired by Metropolitan Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmad, IAS. Senior officials and representatives from several departments including HMRL, GHMC, Hyderabad Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (H-UMTA), Musi Riverfront Development Corporation, Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited, Hyderabad Road Development Corporation Limited, Future City Development Authority, Directorate of Town and Country Planning, Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation, and the traffic police wings of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda attended the meeting.
During the discussions, the Metropolitan Commissioner emphasized the need for inter-departmental coordination and requested all departments to review the draft CMP carefully, share their observations and suggestions, and help finalise the report. The CMP 2050 envisions creating an efficient, safe, and sustainable transport system that meets the future mobility needs of Hyderabad while supporting balanced urban growth.
