The Department of Finance and Accounting, ICFAI Business School (IBS), Hyderabad, inaugurated the two-day Academicians and Practitioners Summit on Banking and Finance on December 15, 2025 at ICFAI Campus. In his inaugural address, Dr. C. Rangarajan delivered an incisive overview of the structural changes shaping India’s banking system. He explained that as financial intermediaries, banks perform four critical transformations—liability-asset transformation, size transformation, period transformation, and risk transformation—each vital for an efficient credit and savings system.
Delivering the keynote address, Rajesh Bansal,Founder and CEO, Reserve Bank Innovation Hub, Bengaluru spoke on “Making AI Work for a Billion Indians.” He explored how digitally native generations—Gen Z and Millennials— are redefining financial behavior and expectations. In his special address, P. Samba Murthy, former Chairman and Managing Director, Corporation Bank, and former Director, IDRBT, Hyderabad emphasized the value of learnability—the ability to evolve continuously in the face of change.
Delivering the presidential address, Prof. Tamma Koti Reddy outlined the key themes of the summit—MSME banking, agricultural finance, AI in banking, and retail banking.The inaugural session concluded with the release of the edited volume “Reimagining Finance & Growth: Global Perspectives and India’s Path Ahead,” published by ICFAI Publications. Dr. Anita C. Raman, Chairperson of the Centre of Excellence in Banking and Finance, elaborated on the summit’s objectives and underlined its role as a bridge between scholarship and industry practice.
