Israel said on Monday that it killed two more Iranian military commanders: the intelligence chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and its head of the Quds Force undercover unit.

The former, Major General Majid Khademi, was killed overnight, a senior Israeli official told Fox News. “Khademi wasn’t just any figure, he was effectively number two within IRGC, one of the few senior commanders who managed to survive multiple waves of Israeli and US attacks over the past year,” the official said.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz added in a statement that the killing took place in Tehran. “The Revolutionary Guard are shooting at civilians and we are eliminating the leaders of the terrorists,” he said. “Iran’s leaders live with a sense of being targeted. We will continue to hunt them down one by one.”

Khademi died during a “terrorist attack by the American-Zionist enemy”, Iran's Fars news agency reported, citing an IRGC statement. No additional details were provided.

The second official killed is Asghar Bakeri, Israeli spokesman Lt Col Nadav Shoshani said. He noted that Bakeri had planned attacks on Israeli and American targets, as well as operations in Israel, Syria and Lebanon.

Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed during the first wave of strikes. Israel says dozens more senior IRGC figures have also been killed. Other high-ranking officials killed include security chief Ali Larijani, intelligence minister Esmail Khatib and the head of the paramilitary Basij force, Gholamreza Soleimani.
