In a heartfelt social media post, the 58-year-old actor recalled spending summer evenings with his late grandmother, who introduced him to the detective character that inspired his love for the role. He said filming the project felt like coming full circle. Looking back on his journey, Diesel wrote, “The kid running from M80s on Canal grew up to be trusted with a piece of this city’s soul.” He ended the post by calling himself “just a lucky kid from New York.”
