With the weather cooling down, citizens made a bee-line to the Nehru Zoological Park on Sunday. The usual mode of display is either to open moats or cages but in view of a greater number of visitors, special animal talk shows, reptile awareness shows were conducted to promote wildlife conservation awareness among the visitors with emphasis on the importance of protecting animals and their habitats, promoting the idea that wildlife is essential for a healthy planet and our well-being.
According to zoo officials, 24,000 people visited the zoo. In view of the summer holidays and wonderful weather conditions many visitors and enthusiasts in Hyderabad chose Zoo as their destination for an outing on Sunday. Anticipating increased number of animal lovers/ visitors the zoo, the management had made adequate arrangements for facilities including deputing a greater number of security personnel at different locations, additional booking counters, battery operated vehicles and drinking water units etc.
There was little wait time for visitors due to heavy rush but the additional reinforcements quickly responded to the rise in numbers. Dr. Sunil S. Hiremath, Director Zoo Parks said that all arrangements would be made to make the visit to the zoo a memorable one.
Nehru Zoological Park Hyderabad houses more than 194 species of animals and is the first Zoo in India to have animals arranged in Zoological order in open enclosures. Such open enclosures in near natural ambiance make animals feel at home.
The Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad is aligning with World Environment Day theme "End Plastic Pollution" by creating awareness in public to help Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad premises plastic free, informed a press release.
