In a display of unparalleled bravery and swift action, the Kamareddy Police, under the leadership of SP M. Rajesh Chandra, IPS, have emerged as lifelines for flood-affected residents across the district. As torrential rains battered Telangana, submerging colonies, villages, and roads, the police force risked their lives to evacuate and rescue over 450 people, including vulnerable children and families, preventing a major catastrophe.
The operations kicked off with the rescue of 60 stranded residents from the fully inundated Housing Board Colony in Kamareddy town, where officers waded through chest-deep waters to relocate them to safety. In Annasagar village, the SP personally coordinated efforts, speaking to trapped victims over phone to instill courage, while SDRF and Fire teams saved 9 people using ropes and boats amid raging currents. Another daring feat unfolded in Sarampalli, where 300 students from an ST Residential school were airlifted and evacuated from flood-encircled premises.
Not stopping there, teams rescued 5 from Manjeera stream in Gunkul, 9 from Yadam pond, and families in Ellareddy, Chinna Mallareddy, and Palvancha – all in perilous conditions. Rehabilitation centers were swiftly set up in multiple areas, providing food and essentials, while traffic diversions on damaged NH-44 ensured public safety.
SP Chandra emphasized, "Every life is precious; our teams are on 24/7 alert." These heroic actions, blending technology, teamwork, and sheer grit, highlight the police's unwavering commitment to public welfare amid nature's wrath.
