Actress Parineeti Chopra’s Shaque set to premiere on oTT on September 24

The first visuals of Parineeti Chopra’s web series debut Shaque promise elements of suspense, insanity and a mother’s quest to stop at nothing until she finds her missing daughter. Apart from Parineeti, the series also stars Jennifer Winget, Soni Razdan, Tahir Raj Bhasin and Anup Soni, and is directed by Rensil D’Silva, while its creator is Siddharth P Malhotra.

As soon as the lights were turned on, in walked the cast and makers to face a group of journalists. When someone asked Winget if her husband was “okay” with her acting career and if she has “relocated abroad”, Winget responded by saying, “Nothing has changed. I have just gotten married. Everything else stays the same.” The Free Press Journal was present at the trailer launch of the web series on Thursday in Mumbai.

Parineeti’s love for reading

The Free Press Journal asked Parineeti what made her greenlight the role. Pat came the reply, “Oh wow. You know, I read a lot. It’s one of my things. But sometimes, I hate reading scripts because I find myself and my mind wandering. So, I ask for a narration so that I can focus for two hours. I was out of town when Siddharth and Rensil called me. So I said, ‘Send it to me’. This was one script I finished in one sitting. In two and a half hours.” She added, “I read the full script.

The moment I shut that last page, I decided I have to do this show. It is truly a page turner. Rensil sir is truly the master of mystery. I just couldn’t guess the ending till it happened. For me, it goes back to my book reading. It was the script. It couldn’t let go of it. I was so excited to do this show. Then one by one, this crazy cast came on board. I was like, ‘Is this real?’ I am blessed that I got to do this show.” Shaque premieres on Netflix on September 24.
