Laparoscopic workshop held at St. Theresa’s Hospital

Hyderabad: St. Theresa’s Multi Specialty Hospital, Erragadda successfully conducted on Saturday a full-day Advanced Laparoscopic Hernia Live Workshop, bringing together around 100 surgeons and medical professionals from across Telangana and neighboring states. The program was endorsed by the National Chapter of APHI and the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI) – Telangana Chapter. 

As part of the workshop, delegates witnessed multiple live laparoscopic hernia surgeries, beginning with a Laparoscopic TAPP Inguinal Hernia repair performed by Dr. Ramesh Dharmavaram, which provided in-depth understanding of anatomical landmarks and operative techniques. The workshop was organized under the leadership of Dr. T. Varun Raju (Organising Chairman), Dr. Lalitha Karanam (Organising Director), and Dr. Y. Bhaskar Reddy (Organising Secretary), with guidance from eminent national and state-level surgical leaders. 

A major academic highlight was the panel discussion on “Decision-Making in Modern Hernia Surgery – Open vs Laparoscopic vs Robotic”, with eminent panellists Dr. Surendra Jasthi, Dr. Suresh, Dr. Aslam Baba, and Dr. Ramesh Dharmavaram, who shared practical insights and clinical perspectives. Dr. N. V. R. Murty, Medical Superintendent, St. Theresa’s Multi Specialty Hospital, stated that hands-on workshops with live surgical demonstrations are invaluable for skill enhancement. Dr. T. Varun Raju, Organizing Chairman, remarked that the aim of this full-day workshop was to offer practical exposure to contemporary laparoscopic hernia techniques and promote evidence-based decision-making.
