15-05-2025 12:00:00 AM

Legal professionals can greatly benefit from journalistic skills, especially in enhancing analytical thinking, communication abilities, and public engagement. The role of the media in the rapidly changing world is even greater in shaping legal awareness and the need for ethical and responsible reporting, said Sri Raka Sudhakar Rao, journalist, social worker, and author while delivering a lecture on ‘Career Opportunities in BA Journalism with LLB’at the ICFAI Law School here on Wednesday.

He further added, “Journalists often encounter challenges like defamation, contempt of court, and copyright issues, and that a legal background equips them to navigate these risks and uphold responsible journalism.”

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Ravi Shekhar Raju, Director of ICFAI Law School said, “The BA Journalism LLB (Hons) five-year integrated program offered by ICFAI Law School has been designed to open avenues to niche careers. The interdisciplinary course is lethal as students gain knowledge in law as well as journalistic skills. There is a lot of scope as one can pursue legal journalism, court reporting, investigative journalism, and policy analysis.”

Dr. Akbar Khan, Associate Dean; and Dr. A. Arun Kumar, Assistant Dean – Student Activities were present on the occasion.
