Lions International felicitates IPS officer and cricketer

Lions International District 320H organized a felicitation and installation ceremony at Vorla Convention in Secunderabad on Saturday, honoring Telangana IPS officer Sandeep Shandilya, Director of the EAGLE Force and Telangana Narcotics Bureau, and Aaron George, Under-19 cricket batting talent, for their notable contributions to public service and sports. District Governor Lion Ashok Kumar Swain led the program, which recognized Shandilya for his efforts in combating narcotics and drug abuse and Aaron George for his achievements in cricket.

Addressing the gathering, speakers stressed the need for greater community participation in the fight against narcotics and substance abuse. District Governor Ashok Kumar Swain unveiled the district's service roadmap for the 2026-27 service year, placing emphasis on large-scale or “mega” service projects. He called for greater coordination among Lions members and wider cooperation with community organizations and other stakeholders to increase the reach and impact of welfare initiatives.

As part of the social welfare activities, 25 push carts were distributed to street vendors to support their livelihoods. The speakers emphasized the importance of collaboration between government agencies, civic organizations, volunteers and community leaders in addressing social challenges. The felicitation of an IPS officer working in the field of narcotics control alongside the recognition of a young cricket player was also seen as reflecting the organization’s wider focus on both social responsibility and youth achievement.
